Description
Rodin likely sculpted The Caryatid Carrying Her Stone in 1881, and it was later shown as a standalone piece at the Georges Petit Gallery in 1886. Antoinette Le Normand-Romain notes that the figure wasn’t added to The Gates of Hell until around 1889–1890, when it was set atop the left pilaster.
